Missouri winters sometimes give us days where the sun is shining and it’s just too tempting to not get out and ride. However, safety in the winter shouldn’t be taken lightly. Make sure to follow these extra guidelines to enjoy a day out on the road.

Dress for the weather. Be sure to add on layers to keep your body warm for cold temps. We all know even the warmest days can feel cold when you add in the wind and speed of the bike. Check out our  Harley-Davidson® MotorClothes department to find just what you need. It’s also important to use a windshield to stay fully protected.

Make sure you have good tires. The cold weather decreases the traction on your tires, no matter what kind of road you’re driving on. If you tread looks less than ideal, be sure to visit our Harley-Davidson® parts center to get a good replacement. Trust us, it’s much better to spend on new tires now than potentially replacing your bike.

Avoid extreme weather. We all know weather can change on a dime, so take careful stock of the reports before heading out too far. While driving in the cold is no fun, driving in a major snowfall is downright dumb. Blurred sightlines, as well as slick surfaces are just too dangerous to risk. If the weather is too risky, get your bike safely stored and wait for a better day. If you haven’t already, check out our tips to protect your Harley-Davidson® this winter and make sure it’s ready for the next warm day.
